The peninsula de Osa in the south of Costa Rica hosts one of the most diversified regions on the earth, the Corcovado national park. More than 5000 different species of tropical trees and a huge wild population of the endangered Great Green Macaw can be found in this conservation area. We recommend travelling to this national park by light aircraft and the company of a nature guide who is familiar with this region.

The Esquinas National Park, also known as the rainforest of the Austrians, is situated in the north eastern part of the region Golfo Dulce. With the help of donations – mainly coming from Austrians – endangered rainforest is purchased. Part of the money raised is used to fund and maintain the Esquinas Lodge and the biological research station La Gamba (further information can be found in the section ”projects”). Every Amadeus client receives a certificate (symbolical) representing the acquisition of a further 100 square meters of endangered rainforest.
