Trogon Lodge is nestled in the Talamanca Mountain Range, at an altitude of 7,000 feet above sea level (2200 meters), in the village of San Gerardo de Dota. This small rural community is part of the Los Santos Forest Reserve, an important biological corridor. Los Quetzales National Park is located at some 9 km. Trogón Lodge features 24 standard and 1 superior room spread along the property gardens, in modules of two. Some rooms are located closer to the Restaurant and main facilities, others higher up in the forest. The terrain is rugged and vertical. Wi-fi is available in the public areas. All rooms offer a view of the gardens and the natural beauty of San Gerardo de Dota. The Standard rooms are equipped with heating unit, hair dryer, shared outside porch with rocking chairs, private bath with shower. A series of steep steps lead up to the Superior room cabin which is not recommended for families nor people with limited walking abilities. It features a king-sized bed, private balcony, scenic windows, Jacuzzi, coffee maker, TV (the only room with TV at the lodge). The farm-to-table concept of El Quetzal Restaurant, with a delightful view of the trout ponds, allows guests to taste freshly grown trout, fresh vegetables from the gardens, local fruit and marmalades. San Gerardo de Dota is home to a large population of the colorful Resplendent Quetzal, sacred bird to the ancient indigenous cultures, which reside in the area year-round. Observing them is a highlight, as well as enjoying the highland nature, taking hikes in the surrounding cloud forests and relax by the cozy fireplace in the lobby.
